Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to play a number of songs on their own or with a group. This will include the ability to:

A wide range of songs are available to learn, including:

Each student will need:

  1. Their own guitar. Depending on the size of the child he or she may need a 1/2, 3/4 or full size guitar. The best type to learn on is a nylon stringed guitar, often called a Classical or Folk guitar. From this you can progress towards a steel-stringed or electric guitar
  2. An A4 plastic sleeved folder or ring-binder. As the weeks progress I will provide copies of songs and information for the student to collect
  3. A book of Guitar Chords. These are available in most music stores
  4. The student may wish to purchase their own book of songs by a particular artist. This may be a way to encourage them to be enthusiastic about learning the guitar
  5. PRACTICE! Learning anything new requires practice. The guitar can be easy if the first stages of learning are overcome quickly through regular practice. A couple of times a week for 15 – 30 minutes is often enough. Every day is better! Keep your guitar handy and easy to see and reach
